On Thursday 6th February, Trinity School were delighted to welcome nearly 60 businesses, universities, colleges, training providers as well as representatives from the public services and voluntary groups to their annual Careers Fair.
The Sports Hall was a hive of activity with students using their Careers Passports as a prompt to aid discussions with organisations and explore some of the wide range of opportunities open to them. This was part of a whole school PSHE day, focused on the theme of “Living in the Wider World.” The day was a huge success, providing students with many outstanding opportunities.
Trinity’s largest ever Careers Fair in our 25th Anniversary year was organised Mrs Diana Evans, Assistant Head of Sixth Form and Careers Coordinator was delighted to see so many enthusiastic and animated faces as students engaged in discussions to gain an awareness of the many pathways available to them. “Events like this definitely helps to raise aspirations”.
In addition, our Year 11 students refined their interview skills by participating in mock interviews with representatives from local employers. Meanwhile, our Year 10 students spent the day work shadowing parents and relatives in a wide range of industries and organisations.
Our Year 7 students explored topics such as employment and taxes, they also had the chance to hear from inspirational speaker Jermaine Harris.
Year 8 students participated in an Enterprise Challenge task with the Inspirational Learning Group. This was a great success, with the winning team progressing to the live national final at the Barbican later this year.
Additionally, our Year 12 students had the opportunity to meet Jermaine Harris and took part in sessions on understanding payslips, budgeting, saving, and staying safe when travelling abroad.
Finally, our Year 13 students participated in several key activities to support their transition into life after school, including a MasterChef Challenge which involved designing and preparing a nutritious, balanced three-course meal for £10. They also attended a self-defense class in addition to valuable time at the Careers Fair.
Overall, the day was a great success with students making connections between their academic studies and potential careers and as Assistant Headteacher, Mr Sean Kenneally explained “At Trinity, we promote personal well-being and development through a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education programme. PSHE education is the curriculum subject that provides young people with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, and practical skills to live safe, healthy, and productive lives while reaching their full potential.”
